Snow?

Now that we have the first snow out of the way, it is time to re-focus our energies.  We always get snow this time of year. It always melts; leaving us wishing…, dreaming…

Quit dreamin’ and git out thar and start skiing- yes, I am talking about Rollerskiing. The best specific training for xc skiing is only a little more challenging than snow skiing- but only the hardness of the falls. Your ski season will be so much better having two months of rollerskiing behind you. Plus you’ll have some scars and road rash to prove your worthiness.

Here’s to real snow that we can ski on! (We need at least 12inches to start grooming).

So Focus now, Focus…

Fall Forward

Now that it is officially fall, it is a good time to re-direct your attention to technique when training. All summer you have presumably been enjoying yourself and getting out there. Now is time to be more specific. Concentrate on your weaknesses.

Whenever you are out there, what ever you are doing, think about your weight being forward and you body weight should be over the middle of your foot for skating specific workouts and in, at least, the same place for classic specific workouts- tho ideally your weight is over the ball of the foot for classic.

Get there by subtlety shifting the weight off you heels and flexing your ankles forward. Do Not lean from the waist to get forward but; Fall Forward from the ankles like a tree just cut-through would.
